Overview

FDA-approved for weight regain after surgery/infection, Turner syndrome, bone pain from osteoporosis, HIV wasting. Studied extensively in burn patients for wound healing and lean mass preservation. One of the most researched oral anabolic steroids clinically.

Mechanism of Action

17α-alkylated oral anabolic steroid. High oral bioavailability via 17α-alkylation (hepatotoxic modification). Low androgenic activity relative to anabolic effect. Does not aromatize to estrogen. Promotes lean mass, wound healing, nitrogen retention. AR agonism with altered binding profile.
