CognitiveEmerging ResearchFDA: Not approved; preclinical research...

Overview

Developed by Joseph Harding at Washington State University. Preclinical: remarkable cognitive enhancement in rat models of Alzheimer's and normal cognition. No human trials. Very potent — small doses required.

Mechanism of Action

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) amplifier. Binds HGF receptor (c-Met) directly. Potent synaptogenic activity — promotes dendritic spine density and synaptic connectivity. Estimated 10^7× more potent than BDNF in some synaptogenesis assays.
