Overview

FDA-approved (Vyleesi) for HSDD in premenopausal women at 1.75 mg SC as-needed. Studied in male erectile dysfunction including PDE5i non-responders.

Mechanism of Action

Melanocortin MC3R/MC4R agonist derived as active metabolite of Melanotan II. Activates sexual arousal via CNS reward/arousal pathways. Increases dopamine in nucleus accumbens and medial preoptic area. Not vascular — works centrally.
